Top > Notes > Controlling an Octane's Fan Speed

If for some reason you want to deafen yourself, or your Octane might be overheating (although my problem was solves by swapping out a faulty 13W3->DB15 convertor) you can configure your Octane to run the system fan at high speed.

  1. Restart your Octane and "stop for system maintenance".
  2. Choose the command line environment from the menu.
  3. Enter "setenv -p fastfan 1".
  4. Enter "exit", and power off your Octane.

Once your Octane is powered back on, the fans should start running at high speed. To change the speed back, repeat the process above with "setenv -p fastfan 0".
